Drew Brees has been named the FedEx Air Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Brees’ wife Brittany will accept the award on his behalf. Brees beat out Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Vikings quarterback Brett Favre to earn the award and a $25,000 donation from FedEx to the New Orleans-area Safe Kids USA coalition.
Titans running back Chris Johnson was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year. Johnson became only the sixth player in NFL history to run for 2,000 yards in a season and broke Marshall Faulk’s record for yards from scrimmage with 2,509. Johnson beat out Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings to win the award, which was voted upon by fans
