Jets Running Backs Headed in Different Directions

Jets running back Thomas Jones is in the house this morning. Last week, Jones’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said on his Twitter account that Jones would show up Wednesday and he has. Jones, however, didn’t get the new contract he sought as the Jets stood firm on not reworking his four-year, $20 million deal in which he collected $13.1 million in the first two years.

Meanwhile, the other disgruntled running back, Leon Washington, didn’t report today, continuing his boycott into Week 3. No surprise there, as the Jets and Washington remain far apart in contract negotiations. Washington remains fixated on getting a deal similar to Maurice Jones-Drew’s.
