According to a report, the owner said he was considering bringing Jones back six months after the team cut the cornerback although the team has not contacted Jones’ agent, Worrick Robinson.
- Rams FS O.J. Atogwe has yet to sign the Rams’ one-year, $6.342 million franchise offer, he continues to fully participate in OTA’s without complaint, a gesture that has been noticed by the Rams, “They probably will reward him with a long-term deal at some point”
- Patriots G Logan Mankins would love to remian with New England. He is in the final year of his contract and he is participating in the team’s OTAs. “I signed a contract. I feel obligated to be here,” he explained this morning. “When my contract is up, that’s when I’ll move on. I’d love to stay here,” he said. “Who knows if I get to or not.”
- The Raiders signed QB Charlie Frye, per the team’s transactions page. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco is declaring the 2009 Bengals are better on paper than the 2005 ancestors that won the AFC North. “The defense is sick now they’re so good and we’ll be better on offense because I’ll be better,” Ochocinco said. “I’m in unbelievable shape. I can run the Boston Marathon without stopping.” The Ocho said he spoke to quarterback Carson Palmer for about “40 to 45 minutes” for the first time since the end of the season. “I know people are trying to say we’re mad at each other and all that, but we’re good,” he said.
- On Sirius NFL radio on “The Sirius Blitz” with hosts Adam Schein and Jim Miller, 49ers GM Scot McCloughan was asked by Miller about the rumors that the 49ers have an interest in Falcons QB Michael Vick. “Well, I think what happens there, and I totally respect it, is people understand who Mike Singletary is and understand that he has no problem giving guys second chances. Coach and I have sat down. We sat down and talked last week. We had an off-week of OTAs and we discussed about Michael Vick and we’re not going to go that route. We will not do it.” McCloughan answered. Co-Host Adam Schein asked again, “So Michael Vick is not on the radar for the 49ers?” McCloughan responded, “Correct.”
