In an interview with ESPN, Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen said he’s a fan of Brett Favre but also noted that the Vikings are not going to “live and die” with whether Favre comes out of retirement to be their quarterback.
“Obviously he’s a tremendous player, he’s a phenomenal quarterback,” Allen said. “Selfishly I think just to say I had a chance to be Brett Favre’s teammate would be pretty cool. But other than that I really don’t have an opinion on it. We’re not going to put all our chips in the basket. We were pretty good without him last year.”
“I try not to get too caught up in it because I don’t want to get too overexcited, thinking that he’s coming and then all of a sudden he doesn’t,” Bernard Berrian said. “He would be a great addition to the team. He’s a great player. He’s done so much for the NFL by himself. He definitely would bring leadership to the team.
“He’s been in the league for 17, 18 years and to have a player of his caliber come in, it speaks volumes for what he can do for this team.”
