Around the NFL – Wednesday Feb 10

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick told an Atlanta radio station that he wishes he had shown more dedication to quarterbacking the Falcons. “There was a lot more I could have done off the field and in the film room that could have elevated my game to a different level,” Vick said. “I was complacent at the time, somewhat lazy, and I settled for mediocrity. I thought what I was doing was enough.” In contrast, Vick, who will turn 30 in June, said he’s training hard for what may be his last opportunity to start in the NFL. “I’m stronger, I feel fast and I’m back to my old-school workouts,” he said. “I think you’ll see a big difference this year.”

Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski will likely be a restricted free agent but he is not interested in playing the field anymore. In an interview over the weekend, he said, “I plan to be back with the Raiders. I think everything will work out, and I’m looking forward to it. We did a lot of good things this year and I’m looking forward to next season.”

Vincent Jackson

The Chargers are taking a wait-and-see approach in with WR Vincent Jackson’s long-term future with the team, he is coming off consecutive career years, yet due to the specter of 2010 being uncapped, he will likely be a restricted free agent, under the club’s control with no multiyear contract yet being discussed between the parties

Cowboys WR Miles Austin, who is an impending restricted free agent, said he wants to re-sign with the team during the offseason but knows that the decision is up to the Cowboys. The Cowboys likely will tender him an offer that would give them a first-round and third-round draft choice if another team signs him and the Cowboys do not match.

Earlier this week, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco said he would do a Lambeau Leap if he scored a touchdown at Green Bay on Sunday. He did and ran towards the stands and spotted a small group of Bengals fans in the front row near the end zone, then leaped into the crowd just like Green Bay players do after they score.

“It was fun,” Ochocinco said. “I had a little indecision on where to jump at first. I didn’t want to disrespect their tradition, so I was asking as I went along the line. I saw some Bengals fans that said it was OK.”

Saints RB Pierre Thomas practiced fully on Wednesday and reiterated after practice that he will play on Sunday. He wore a large brace on his knee during practice and had his knee wrapped in ice afterward.

I like the way he looked (this week). I’m encouraged by his continued progress.”

Is LaDainian Tomlinson going to play? I hate this day to day crap, but all indications are that he will not play in week 2. “We don’t have to play him like we did a year ago when his toe was bothering him,” Turner told the paper of Tomlinson. “That’s why Michael is here.” Michael being Michael Bennett. Stay tuned we are following this.
