The Bears receivers are having trouble holding on to Jay Cutler’s passes. According to reports, during the team’s first OTA’s of the offseason passes are being dropped left and right.
“It takes a little time to adjust,” offensive coordinator Ron Turner said. “They know they better get their head around and get their hands up because that ball’s going to be there.”
With all due respect Ron, it has nothing to do with adjustments. The Bears WRs just stink. Rashied Davis, Earl Bennett, Devin Hester, along with draft picks Juaquin Iglesias, Johnny Knox, and Derek Kinder, stink. Some are calling this group the worst receiving corps in the NFL, and one of the worst of all-time.
So what can the Bears do to fix this problem? They should be throwing the kitchen sink at Arizona for Anquan Boldin. Boldin would be a perfect fit for Chicago. They already unloaded enough to get Cutler, so why not go for broke and get one of the league’s premier WRs to play catch with a premiere QB?
To a lesser degree of studliness is the Browns WR, Braylon Edwards. Edwards is coming of a sub par year in 2008, but we all have seen what this kid can do. He won’t cost as much trade wise to get him from Cleveland.
What I don’t understand is why GM Jerry Angelo wouldn’t pursue Plaxico Burress if he doesn’t get locked up. I understand that the guy shot himself. As stupid as that is, the guy can play football. See what happened to the Giants after he left. Plus, he is the only option of the 3 that won’t cost any draft picks.
