Post image for Fantasy Football 2009 Week 3 Wide Receiver Rankings

1. Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) @ Arizona – Reggie had a stupid week 1 and a forgettable week 2. 162 to 37. This week his good numbers will continue against a suspect Arizona secondary. This game has shoot out potential and Peyton loves prime time games. And he loves throwing to Wayne in prime time games. Expect an average of his 2 weeks and then some 115/1.5

2. Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) vs. Jacksonville – What a week for Andre last Sunday. Good times will keep rolling against the piss poor Jacksonville defense. 149 yards and 2 TDs is a tough act to follow, but 110 and a TD, now that’s almost guaranteed.

3. Randy Moss (New England Patriots) vs. Atlanta – The Patriots ran into a sick Jets defense last week, that shut just about everything down except Julian Edelman. Moss and Brady just had a rough outing. They will both be back this week against the Falcons, and their 17th ranked pass defense.

4. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Indianapolis – The big yards aren’t there…yet. But the TDs are. This week in a prime time shoot out, Larry gets both. The Colts have a tainted number 1 ranked pass defense, playing Garrard and Pennington. 105/1

5. Marques Colston (New Orleans Saints) @ Buffalo Bills – The best WR on the best offense with the best QB. Yup. If Brees didn’t throw to everyone, Colston would be higher. 100/1

1. Randy Moss (New England Patriots) @ New York Jets – Randy Moss is wicked good. So is Andre Johnson and the Jets shut him down. But Tom Brady is wickeder than Matt Schaub. 110/2

2. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) @ Jacksonville – In all of the disaster that was the Cardinals offense last week, Fitz was the only one that came to play. 6 grabs, 71 yards, and a TD. And that’s really not that great for Fitz. Things will get better, and this week he will get back on track. 110/1

3. Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) @ Miami – How awesome is this guy. a buck 62 and a TD. Miami just does not have the defense to hold Wayne back. With problems at the 2 spot, Wayne is the man. 110/1

4. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) vs. Cincinnati – Jennings got off to a good start with 106 yards and a TD. Another day at the office this week against a weak Bengals defense. 105/1

5. Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Carolina – Roddy White didn’t have a crazy good game last week against the Dolphins. Only 42 yards without a TD. Matt Ryan will be looking for White t./ <—cat walked on the keyboard. this week. 95/1

6. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) vs. Minnesota – Megatron Rules! Johnson had 13 looks from Stafford in week 1, but only grabbed 3. But those 3 went for 90. Sick. Minny’s defense is tough, but you should still expect the same type of output from CJ this week. 90/1 [click to continue…]

Week 1 Rants and Raves

How about Joe Flacco. What a lock yo. That was lame, but Joe’s game Sunday wasn’t. He threw for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns. Along with a pick but that’s ok.

Tony Romo had himself a pretty dope day as well. He rocked to the tune of 353 yards and 3 touchdowns.

How awesome is Reggie Wayne? The guy catches everything. This week Reggie hauled in 10 passes for 162 yards and a TD.

Now Adrian Peterson is a sick, sick, man. Did you see him tear up Cleveland’s defense? 180 yards on 25 carries and 3 touchdowns? You can’t be serious. He is on pace for 2,880 yards rushing and 48 touchdowns.

Speaking of “you can’t be serious” Drew Brees can’t be serious. 358 yards and 6 touchdowns. Drew will be this year’s MVP. No doubt in my mind. Can’t wait to go to New Orleans for the Jets game on Oct. 4th to check this guy out. He is my man-crush. [click to continue…]

  • The work ethic of Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell is still being questioned by many who have worked with him in the past and are working with him now. After he issued a call to his teammates to practice and finish the OTA days strong, he then disappeared and was AWOL on the last day. Russell must learn that talent alone is not going to make him successful.
  • Packers QB Matt Flynn is well ahead of QB Brian Brohm for the backup quarterback position. Flynn has an average arm at best but is a leader and has enough mobility to make some plays when things break down. Brohm is better than last year but still had too many head-scratching moments as well as a surprising number of ducks this summer.
  • Even though the Packers will dish out at least $16.25 million to receiver Greg Jennings this year, they should have enough room under the salary cap for additional contract extensions. The deal that Jennings signed on Wednesday left the Packers with about $21 million in remaining space under the 2009 salary cap. The Packers will need some of their remaining salary-cap room for their four remaining unsigned draft picks which includes first-round picks B.J. Raji and Clay Matthews as well as extending the contracts of additional veterans like disgruntled safety Nick Collins, starting offensive linemen Daryn Colledge, Jason Spitz and linebacker Aaron Kampman who are entering their final contract years.
  • The Jets are very much taking a wait-and-see approach with Plaxico Burress. Word out of New York is that they won’t consider bringing him aboard until his legal situation is cleared up, and it’s also unlikely they would make a play for him if Roger Goodell hands down a lengthy suspension. However, should the courts and league decide in the receiver’s favor, expect the Jets to be near the top of the list of suitors.
  • After multiple discussions about the possibility of the Chicago Bears signing free agent receiver Plaxico Burress, it now seems unlikely. ESPN’s John Clayton reports that Chicago has all but ruled out the possibility of singing Burress. Part of that stance could be based on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision to review Burress for possible league discipline long before his legal troubles are scheduled to be addressed in court. Clayton also said that the Jets are pretty much in the same boat, and it doesn’t look like anyone will sign Burress before the start of training camp. The Buccaneers reported the same sentiment on Saturday.

  • The Packers and WR Greg Jennings are close to agreeing to a new deal, the veteran wide receiver said Monday after minicamp practice. Jennings warned that a breakdown was still possible. Nevertheless, this was the first time he had publicly been so optimistic about a potential new contract with the team since he began seeking a new deal at the conclusion of the 2008 season. “We’ve been working on some things. We’re coming pretty close, as far as my understanding is, to some type of a deal,” Jennings said. “But when I say close, we could still be far . . . if that makes sense. But I think we’re coming close. You just never know how long ‘close’ can take to actually closing the deal.”
  • The Packers look like they’re planning to get Ryan Pickett and B.J. Raji on the field together as much as they can. When the Packers drafted Raji with the No. 9 overall pick in April, they talked of moving one of the two behemoth defensive tackles to play some end in their new 3-4 defensive scheme, and in offseason practices they’ve done it. When both players have been present, they’ve lined up with the No. 1 base defense: Pickett exclusively at nose tackle and Raji at defensive end.

  • Redskins RB Clinton Portis claims that there is no bad blood between him and coach Jim Zorn. “How this story came about, I have no idea,” Portis said. “There’s nothing going on. There’s no beef between me and Coach Zorn. We’re on good terms at this present moment. There’s no problem.” Portis had a spat with Zorn after the coach benched him at halftime of the Dec. 7 loss at Baltimore. “I don’t know why people have that in their mind,” Portis said. “Me and Coach [Joe] Gibbs had a great relationship. We talked more than me and Coach Zorn do, but lately me and Coach Zorn been talking, trying to get on the same page. Things been going good. He understand me and I understand him.”
  • Bengals QB Carson Palmer reiterated that WR Chad Ochocinco remains his top target within the team’s offense. “He’s going to play (the lead role) because he deserves to play there,” Palmer said. “He’s been one of the best receivers in this league for a long time. He’s still able to play at that level, and still capable of making big plays and carrying the load offensively at the receiver spot, so he will.”
  • How serious is Cowboys WR Roy Williams taking his new job as the No. 1 receiver? For the first time in his life, or so one of Williams’ unnamed buddies told SI.com’s Peter King. “I’m serious,” King quoted his source. “Roy never lifted before. Now that he has, and now that he’s serious about making himself a great football player, especially with T.O. gone, I think he’s really going to have a good year.” Strength and conditioning coach Joe Juraszek said earlier in June that Williams has been hard at work this offseason to slim down and get himself in better shape for the year.
