Jason Taylor

Another offseason of Brett Favre coming out of retirement talk is in full swing, but Titans quarterback Kerry Collins can understand where the future Hall of Famer is coming from. ”I am not surprised,” Collins said Tuesday. “He loves to play the game, loves to be around the game. It is hard for all us to not have it, to not be a part of it. I certainly understand his desire to play as long as he wants. And I think he has earned that right.”

The StarCaps Case is moving towards it’s conclusion and Pro Bowl defensive tackles Kevin Williams  and Pat Williams may learn Thursday whether they will be suspended for 4 games.

The Buffalo Bills and running back Fred Jackson have agreed to terms on a contract extension. Jackson was an exclusive rights free agent so he couldn’t negotiate with any other team.

The Dolphins have brought back former defensive star Jason Taylor to a one-year, $1.5 million deal. ”My heart has always been in Miami, so I’m truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again,” Taylor said in a statement.

Those close to former Colts coach Tony Dungy believe the lure of coaching eventually will overwhelm him, pull him back into the NFL.

Garrett Reid, the eldest son of Eagles coach Andy Reid, has been sent to Graterford Prison after he was involved in an altercation at a halfway house, his attorney said today. “Given the limited amount of information I have, I am very concerned about Garrett and his future situation,” said Timothy Woodward, Reid’s attorney.

You have to love Lions RB Kevin Smith’s confidence. In a recent blog post on his official site, Kevin Smith makes a bold proclomation: “I won’t make a prediction about how many games we’re going to win, but I will say this: We will definitely make the playoffs this season. Believe it or not we weren’t far off last year. Almost every game we could have won, we were one play or one player short. Except for Tennessee on Thanksgiving, they just came out and beat us to sleep. They manhandled us, but nobody else did.”

Maybe he should worry about his hand me down Jersey first

Maybe the Brett Favre saga isn’t dead, after all. ESPN is reporting this afternoon that, according to a source, Favre had X-rays of his right shoulder sent to the Vikings for evaluation.

Brandon Jacobs said today on ESPN 1050 Radio that he did not want the Giants to trade for Browns WR Braylon Edwards. “I don’t want him,” Jacobs told host Brandon Tierney. “There are great players in the league that I don’t want. I just think the chemistry between the teammates that I have now is great. We don’t need to add a new veteran to the whole group. “I’m good with where we are. I’m glad that we didn’t go forward and get him or (Cardinals WR Anquan) Boldin. Those guys are great guys [but] I’m not interested in that idea.” Jacobs hinted that rumors the Giants were interested in Edwards were far-fetched, and that Edwards would not adjust to New York. “We don’t throw the ball enough for that,” Jacobs said.

Good Luck With Steve Smith and Domenick Hixon

The Dolphins partied down with Jimmy Buffett as they announced Landshark Stadium as their homes new name. It was a great show. I watched it on NFL Network.

But I prefer this Dolphins Song

Dolphin Stadium, which has not had a corporate name since 2005, likely will complete a naming rights deal with Landshark Lager, a beer brewed by Anheuser-Busch, the stadium’s president said Friday morning. The stadium could be renamed Landshark Stadium, though Dolphin Stadium president Bruce Schulze would not confirm the exact likely new name. ”We’ve been in conversations,” Schulze said, declining to comment further. A second person close to the talks said the sides had discussed a short-term deal, perhaps only for one year or less, but the length remained under discussions.

You’ve undoubtedly been hearing some buzz this week about free agent DE Jason Taylor in connection with the Buccaneers. We continue to maintain that Taylor will not be in a Buccaneers uniform.

Obviously, Julius Peppers wasn’t at camp…

Jim Zorn spoke with the media and had updates on some injuries. He said that Santana Moss was very limited by shin splints and that James Thrash is out with a neck injury but should be back for the June organized activities.

Quarterback Pat White entered Miami Dolphins mini camp with a jammed finger on his hand and will not take snaps from under center during all of mini camp, but he is throwing the ball.

An attorney for Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson has asked the court to suppress evidence obtained as a result of Jackson’s Jan. 6 arrest on suspicion of drunken driving. In a motion filed Thursday in San Diego Superior Court, Jackson’s attorney said Jackson was forced to have his blood drawn “against his will” after repeatedly requesting a breath test instead, as was his right. Jackson’s blood-alcohol content measured 0.17 percent, according to court records.

WR Anquan Boldin and DE Darnell Dockett didn’t practice because they informed the team during physicals Thursday that they had hamstring problems. The club sent them for MRIs.
