  • Redskins Safety LaRon Landry is now the only Redskin who is unaccounted for during this round of offseason workouts. Landry, is not at the workouts and head coach Jim Zorn said he has not been able to reach the third-year player by either telephone or text message. “I think it’s disappointing to his teammates as well,” Zorn said. “But he’s going to be ready. I fully expect him to be ready in training camp and go hard and have a great year. I’m not as concerned about him missing as just being a part of what his teammates are doing and the kind of stuff we’re trying to implement here. He’s going to be set back a little bit because of maybe a new concept here or there, but he’s a tremendous athlete, and I think he’ll be a good teammate.”
  • Cardinals Safety Adrian Wilson, should finish as a life-long Card after finally agreeing to a new five-year contract Thursday. Financial terms of the deal, which runs through the 2013 season, were not immediately disclosed. A press conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
  • Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey returned for offseason workouts this week but his right hamstring is not ready to go. All he could do was stand there and watch his teammates practice during an open-media session Wednesday. So goes a slow start for the fastest player in the NFL draft. “There’s some soreness in there,” Raiders coach Tom Cable said. “We don’t want to chance it so we’re going to leave it alone. His learning is good. He’s a very bright guy, but that doesn’t ever account for the reps that are needed. So we’ll get him back to work next week.”
  • Cardinals QB Matt Leinart sought help from an unlikely source in an even more unlikely place this off-season. The Southern California graduate worked out a few times with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady at UCLA. The location made sense because Brady has a home near the campus, and Norm Chow, the former offensive coordinator at USC, is now an assistant at UCLA. “I figured if I’m running with him (Brady), he can do whatever,” Leinart said, laughing.
  • Cowboys CB Terence Newman sat out today because of a minor quad injury. Wade Phillips said Newman probably would have practiced with such an injury during the regular season. Phillips declined to detail every injury, but he said they were mostly minor leg injury, including a strain for WR Miles Austin.
