1. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) @ Buffalo Bills – Do I really need to explain this? Brees is the Best QB in the NFL right now. Nobody can stop him.

2. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) @ Arizona – Peyton and Kurt Warner are going to light up the scoreboards against each other in week 3. And if you own Manning this is exactly the type of game you love. Sit back, relax and enjoy another 300+ yard game and at least 2 TDs.

3. Tom Brady (New England Patriots) vs. Atlanta – Brady got his ass beat up last week against the Jets defense. My Jets still haven’t allowed a TD. This week against Atlanta he may find himself smack dab in the middle of the other shoot out of week 3. Brady will be looking to bounce back against the Falcons who just allowed Jake Delhomme to have a 300 yard game.

4. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) @ St. Louis – Threw for 261 yards and a TD last week. Kinda expected more against the Bengals. Kinda had him ranked first. Either way the numbers were still solid, and he has an easier match up this week against the Rams. The Rams have been giving up over 250 yards a game to QBs and 1.5 TDs.

5. Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) @ New England – 549 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT. That is not a bad 2 week stat line. Ryan New England will be playing pissed after the JETS loss. Ryan will be playing catch u with Brady and the Pats, which means plenty of passing. And he’s got plenty of options to throw to. 275/2

Fantasy Football 2009 Week 2 Quarterback Rankings

1. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) vs Cincinnati – How dare you rank Rodgers 1 this week after only 184 yards and 1 TD last week? Rodgers is better then that stat line and he will show it this week against a rough Bengals secondary. They played well last week against Kyle Orton and the Broncos, But Rodgers is just better and will play that way.

2. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) @ Philadelphia – Philadelphia has a good defense, but no one will stop Drew Brees this year. He absolutely lit up the Detroit secondary last. Although my cousin Eric could light the Lions secondary up. But even 360 yards and 6 TDs is alot for E-Rock. Look for Brees to come back down to earth but still with close or just above 300 yards and at least 2 TDs.

3. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) @ Miami – The Dolphins defensive backfield did a decent job holding Matt Ryan to 229 yards and 2 TDs in week 1. But he is not Peyton Manning yet. Manning will have a good day as usual against a middle of the road secondary. Miami had problems containing Tony Gonzalez so they should have a ton of fun with Dallas Clark.

4. Tom Brady (New England Patriots) @ New York Jets – Another Jets home opener, another visit from the Pats. Brady is just fine from his injury. True story here folks… Monday Night the Pats were down 24-13, I took my dog for a walk and come back, Patriots won 25-24. I looked at the TV and said “What the Fuck?” And Tom Brady was being interviewed and I was suddenly no longer surprised. He’s a bad man, and even though the Jets defense might seem legit, Brady will get his near 300 yards and a couple TDs.

5. Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Carolina – Ryan had a pretty darn good game on Sunday against Miami. Matty Ice threw for 229 yards and 2 TDs. The Panthers got smashed last week and Atlanta wants to go for the kill and start thier division rival at 0-2. Ryan will have plenty to do with that task.

6. Matt Hasselbeck (Seattle Seahawks) @ San Francisco - Hasselbeck had a good day last week against a very weak defense. St. Louis just could not handle all of his weapons, and TE John Carlson was the man. San Francisco’s defense did well against the Cardinals offense last week, but Arizona has no run game, and are just not meshing right now. Matt and the Hawks offense are meshing quite well with new WR TJ Who’s your mama. So another 279 yard 3 TD day is very possible for MH this week. [click to continue…]

2009 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

Tier One

1-1(1) - Drew Brees– It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Brees is an Elite # 1 Quarterback in the NFL. He fell 15 yards short of breaking Dan Marino’s yards record ending the season with an astounding 5,069 yards. He also tossed 34 TDs against 17 INTs. It wouldn’t be fair to expect another 5,000 yard season, but another 35 TDs is not out of the question in the pass happy bayou. And if Marques Colston can stay healthy the whole year, Brees will be able to top the QB ranks through 2009.

1-2(2) - Peyton Manning – Manning is probably the safest pick in all of Fantasy Football. Unless injured, which never happens he hasn’t missed a game yet, Manning will deliver # 1 numbers. The loss of Marvin Harrison will have no ill effects on Peyton’s passing game. He still managed over 4,000 yards and 37 TDs without him. He got off to a rough start with the bursa sac heard around the world, but with a full, healthy offseason, expect Peyton to be back to his old tricks.

1-3(3) - Tom Brady – Brady rounds out what would be considered the “tier 1” Quarterbacks. The mere fact the Patriots were willing to trade Matt Cassel is reason enough for us to believe Tom will be playing at a high level once again in 2009.

Tier Two

2-1(4) - Phillip Rivers – Rivers tied Brew Brees for the NFL lead in touchdown passes with 34. He only threw 11 picks against Drew’s 17, and threw for over 4,000 yards. He has a solid receiving corp in Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers, and of course Antonio Gates. Don’t forget, a simple screen to Darren Sproles can easily lead to an 80 yard TD pass. Rivers will, without a doubt, be a #1 fantasy QB in 2009.

2-2(5) - Tony Romo – Can Romo get it done without TO. Absolutely, and maybe even better. Roy Williams is a very talented WR and will fill TO’s vacancy well. The problem lies in the # 2 WR spot. Miles Austin or Patrick Crayton will need to step up to keep extra defenders off Jason Witten. The 3 headed RB corp of Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice will only help open up the field for Tony. Romo has a bit of a turnover problem but maybe without TO breakin’ his balls every play, he won’t force the ball around the field. [click to continue…]

Tight end Tony Gonzalez made a strong first impression with the Falcons, arriving in town quickly to begin the process of developing chemistry with quarterback Matt Ryan. ”Any time that you get a new toy,” the former Boston College quarterback said, “you want to try it out.”

Chicago Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo has essentially ruled out pursuing veteran wide receiver Plaxico Burress, reiterating that the Bears are not likely to go after the former New York Giants starter. Burress’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently said that two NFL teams are seriously interested in signing Burress. “Are we one of those two teams?” Angelo told the Chicago Tribune. “No.”

The Rams don’t want him either.

Saints running back Reggie Bush says that he’s ready to take a leadership role with the club.

Browns NT Shaun Rogers   finally put away his crying towel.

Chiefs DE/DT Glenn Dorsey participated only in individual drills at practice because of what he called a shin injury. “I’m taking it day by day,” said Dorsey, the Chiefs’ top draft pick last year. “I’m going to try to pick it up a little more every day. It’s just sore. It’s nothing major. I don’t want to take chances with it, set myself back for the season. I’ll be doing the whole practice in no time.”

The NFL Network is furious with Jon Gruden for jilting the network after he’d verbally agreed to a deal to work there. The former Bucs coach had been very good on the NFL Network, colorful and opinionated, at the NFL scouting combine and the NFL draft, and the network had finalized everything but the signature on the paper for Gruden to begin working there immediately.

Comcast and the National Football League on Tuesday ended nearly three years of vituperative hostilities with a deal that will make the NFL Network available to 10 million of the cable operator’s subscribers at a significantly lower price than the league has long demanded.

Dolphins Running back Ricky Williams said he would like to play this season and in 2010 and then call it a career.

Matt Ryan wants that Division Title. The Falcons extending Roddy White would certainly help this dream for the future. If Jamal Anderson keeps it up, the defense will surely improve.

Mike Smith is pleased with the development of DE Jamaal Anderson. Anderson lined up at defensive end with the first-team offense in their recent three-day minicamp. “Jamaal’s worked hard and he’s made progress,” Smith said. “Unfortunately, guys often times, are judged by their draft status and that comes with the territory. But my experience here with Jamaal in one season is that we are pleased with his progress. We think he’s made huge steps from the first day that we got here and we think he will continue to do that.”

A year ago minicamp for Matt Ryan was about Matt Ryan, who was just trying to show he belonged in the NFL. This one was different. The world now knows Matty Ice belongs, and the Iceman himself is focused on his team. “Last year you were just trying to keep your head above water,” Ryan said Sunday. “I certainly don’t want to sound like I have it all figured out — because I don’t — but this year it’s more about fine-tuning. It’s the same as last year: We’re not worried about outside expectations. But we want to win our division and give ourselves a chance. That’s it. There are no personal goals.”

After two spectacular seasons, wide receiver Roddy White and the Atlanta Falcons are in discussions for a contract extension. White, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time last season, is entering the final year of a five-year contract. White, who is set to make $2.28 million next season under his current contract, said he would like to enter the season with his contract situations resolved. “Whenever it happens, it happens,” White said. “We’ll just wait around for it.”
