Linebacker Shawne Merriman is displeased with his tender offer from the Chargers, according to his personal twitter page. He said, “Speechless today. Business is business but some things just are not right.” Merriman is not eligible to hit free agency, and a team would have to give up a first and third-round draft pick to acquire him away from the Chargers.
Marc Buger’s agent waiting on decision from Rams
There are talks occurring between the Rams and quarterback Marc Bulger’s agents to decide his fate sooner rather than later but there is no urgency to make a move prior to March 5th because there are no salary-cap implications to having Bulger on or off the roster. Because no trade can be consummated until March 5th, the Rams would only release him prior to that date if they have exhausted all potential efforts to deal him.
The Panthers have until this Thursday to place the franchise tag on defensive end Julius Peppers. A source in the organization has indicated to Newschannel 36 that Peppers is finished with the team, and they will not pony up the twenty million plus that would be required to keep him for another year under the tag allowing him to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
Things could get rough for Peppers. Peter King tweets “Had an NFL exec tell me this weekend he thought Peppers would be lucky to get $10m a year in this climate.”
Terrell Owens said that he might be within striking distance of overtaking Jerry Rice’s records as the league’s greatest-ever receiver if he had played with better quarterbacks during his career.
Terrell Owens said the news media tried to goal him into a controversy after his catch-less performance on Sunday. The Bills receiver’s streak of 185 consecutive games with a catch ended, and after the game he repeatedly refused to criticize his coaches or teammates and Owens maintained that he was “just going with the plays that are called.” Over the years I’ve always kind of spoken openly about whatever is being asked with my answers, so the last four or five years I’ve kind of noticed that and tried taking some steps to prevent some of those things from happening. “But (Sunday) as you saw, it was obviously … (reporters) took some more than initiative to try to get me to kind of go down the wrong path. I know the last two teams that I’ve been on, I felt like I left those teams prematurely due to media interviews that I’ve done and things kind of taken out of context and they created sort of a media whirlwind in the locker room and things kind of went downhill from there. I’m just trying to do the best job I can do as far as answering the questions and trying to be a better teammate and not try to throw people under the bus.”

This game has shoot out potential and Peyton loves prime time games. And he loves throwing to Wayne in prime time games. Expect an average of his 2 weeks and then some 115/1.5
2. Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) vs. Jacksonville – What a week for Andre last Sunday. Good times will keep rolling against the piss poor Jacksonville defense. 149 yards and 2 TDs is a tough act to follow, but 110 and a TD, now that’s almost guaranteed.
3. Randy Moss (New England Patriots) vs. Atlanta – The Patriots ran into a sick Jets defense last week, that shut just about everything down except Julian Edelman. Moss and Brady just had a rough outing. They will both be back this week against the Falcons, and their 17th ranked pass defense.
4. Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals) vs. Indianapolis – The big yards aren’t there…yet. But the TDs are. This week in a prime time shoot out, Larry gets both. The Colts have a tainted number 1 ranked pass defense, playing Garrard and Pennington. 105/1
5. Marques Colston (New Orleans Saints) @ Buffalo Bills – The best WR on the best offense with the best QB. Yup. If Brees didn’t throw to everyone, Colston would be higher. 100/1
