1. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) vs. Seattle – Peyton is up to his old tricks lighting up defenses and score boards. 9 TDs, and only 2 INts. He is on a tear and it is Seattle’s turn to get tore up. Manning is # 1 this week 325/3

2. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) @ Minnesota – Rodgers has quietly put up some good fantasy numbers. 714 yards and 4 TDs with 0 INTs. This week he faces a Vikings defense that had the pleasure of playing against greats such as, Brady Quinn, Matthew Stafford, and Shaun Hill in the first 3 weeks. Rodgers will show them what a real QB can do. 300+ 2 TD.

3. Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears) vs. Detroit – This week’s charity points are being donated to Jay Cutler on behalf of the Detroit Lions. Cutler is on a 2 game tear and the Lions are the 29th ranked pass defense.

4. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) vs. New York Jets – Normally Brees would be in the top 3, but if the Jets defense is as good as they say. He will only be able to perform at a 4th ranked level. Which is still pretty damn good. It’s very possible he just kills the Jets secondary, but a 280/2 day seems fair.

5. Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers) @ Pittsburgh – The Steelers are falling apart a little bit up in Pittsburgh. The defense is still damn good, but without Troy Polamalu the Steelers is defense is ranked 15th against the pass, against 2nd last season. Rivers will have himself a nice day this week in Pittsburgh.

Fantasy Football 2009 Week 3 Quarterback Rankings

1. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints) @ Buffalo Bills – Do I really need to explain this? Brees is the Best QB in the NFL right now. Nobody can stop him.

2. Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) @ Arizona – Peyton and Kurt Warner are going to light up the scoreboards against each other in week 3. And if you own Manning this is exactly the type of game you love. Sit back, relax and enjoy another 300+ yard game and at least 2 TDs.

3. Tom Brady (New England Patriots) vs. Atlanta – Brady got his ass beat up last week against the Jets defense. My Jets still haven’t allowed a TD. This week against Atlanta he may find himself smack dab in the middle of the other shoot out of week 3. Brady will be looking to bounce back against the Falcons who just allowed Jake Delhomme to have a 300 yard game.

4. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) @ St. Louis – Threw for 261 yards and a TD last week. Kinda expected more against the Bengals. Kinda had him ranked first. Either way the numbers were still solid, and he has an easier match up this week against the Rams. The Rams have been giving up over 250 yards a game to QBs and 1.5 TDs.

5. Matt Ryan (Atlanta Falcons) @ New England – 549 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT. That is not a bad 2 week stat line. Ryan New England will be playing pissed after the JETS loss. Ryan will be playing catch u with Brady and the Pats, which means plenty of passing. And he’s got plenty of options to throw to. 275/2

Earlier this week, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco said he would do a Lambeau Leap if he scored a touchdown at Green Bay on Sunday. He did and ran towards the stands and spotted a small group of Bengals fans in the front row near the end zone, then leaped into the crowd just like Green Bay players do after they score.

“It was fun,” Ochocinco said. “I had a little indecision on where to jump at first. I didn’t want to disrespect their tradition, so I was asking as I went along the line. I saw some Bengals fans that said it was OK.”

Cowboys QB Tony Romo said today the ankle injury he suffered on Sunday is not major and he expects to be at “100%” against the Giants on Sunday night. “I’ll be fine,” Romo said. “There’s nothing wrong with it.”

Saints RB Pierre Thomas practiced fully on Wednesday and reiterated after practice that he will play on Sunday. He wore a large brace on his knee during practice and had his knee wrapped in ice afterward.

Browns RB Jamal Lewis was limited in practice Wednesday because of an unspecified neck injury. He went down with an apparent stinger in his neck after a 15-yard run in the first half.

  • Jerome Harrison could see his first game action Sunday in Denver. Harrison began his second day in a row of full participation in practice on Thursday. “He’s made great strides over the week,” coach Eric Mangini said. “He had a pretty good week last week, but I just thought it was better to give him another week. I like the way he looked (this week). I’m encouraged by his continued progress.”

Is LaDainian Tomlinson going to play? I hate this day to day crap, but all indications are that he will not play in week 2. “We don’t have to play him like we did a year ago when his toe was bothering him,” Turner told the paper of Tomlinson. “That’s why Michael is here.” Michael being Michael Bennett. Stay tuned we are following this.

Wide receiver Hank Baskett, who was released by Philadelphia Tuesday, has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, according to his agent.

Post image for Week 2 Fantasy Football Prep – Waiver Wire, Injuries, and Nuggets

Waiver Wire

Ravens QB Joe Flacco – After a monster week 1, it might not be a bad idea to grab Flacco if he is available. Couple of reasons. It’s always nice to have a reliable back-up on yur roster for bye-weeks and injuries. But other managers might fall victim to the injury bug, and he can be trade bait later in the season.

Buccaneers RB Carnell Williams - What a pleasant surprie Cadillac was. 97 yards and a TD on 13 carries. If the Bucs were in the game, he would have had more touches. He has a nice stretch to end the season onto the fantasy playoffs. Starting with week 9. GB, MIA, NO, ATL, CAR, JETS, SEA (wk 15), NO (wk 16)

Saints RB Mike Bell – The guy ran for 148 yards on 28 carries yesterday. go get him. Especially if you have Pierre Thomas. And Hurry.

Colts WRs Pierre Garcon & Austin Collie – Anthony Gonzalez will be out for 2-6 weeks. One of these 2 guys need to fill his role. NFL.com’s Colts Depth Chart has Collie as AG’s backup.

Jets TE Dustin Keller – Mark Sanchez got plenty of use out of the Jets best receiving option. If he is available, go get him. He will put up low end TE1 numbers. [click to continue…]
