Vikings coach Brad Childress is expected to depart for Mississippi later today and meet with quarterback Brett Favre tonight and Thursday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Childress remained at Winter Park early this afternoon but the source said he is expected to have dinner with Favre this evening and begin discussions about Favre joining the Vikings.

The in-depth portion of the meeting is expected to take place Thursday. Among the Vikings’ chief concerns is the status of Favre’s injured right biceps. At this point, the meeting is expected to take place in Mississippi, where Favre lives.

Patriots rookie linebacker Tyrone McKenzie, who was injured during the team’s rookie mini-camp last weekend, is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee

The Raiders search for fullback help has turned to a former Fresno State standout other than Lorenzo Neal: veteran running Michael Pittman.

Titans Defensive end Jevon Kearse had arthroscopic knee surgery recently and did not participate in Wednesday’s minicamp.

Cowboys kicker Nick Folk had surgery on his right hip Tuesday to repair a labral tear and is expected to need eight weeks to resume light kicking, which could allow him to return in time for training camp.
